A trove of blippy beats
In my travels around the web yesterday I came across
href="http://www.asciipr0n.com/mp3/">this page of downloadable mp3s at
asciipr0n.com. I've never heard of
any of the artists, but they're all great pieces of music, generally
classifiable in the 8-bit techno and ambient categories. It's well worth
going to have a listen; this is a hidden gem.
People have made up several names for related kinds of music: there's
href="http://www.comparativesound.com/whatis/whatis.htm">"blip-hop" and
href="http://www.google.com/search?q=click-hop">"click-hop", and
href="http://www.micromusic.net/">micromusic is probably the most
well-known label offering this

heart bleeps noisy beeps" title="my heart bleeds noisy beeps, by r%26auml;uberh%26ouml;hle">kind of blippy music (req. Flash).
However, there is no overall name for this kind of music. So, I christen it
bit-hop. (And perhaps the really degraded, crunchy,
corroded-sounding pieces can be bit rot-hop. Or maybe not.)
